Hunger hurts

“Mum, what can I have to eat?”

“Anything you can find.”

“But there’s nothing in the cupboards.”

“There is, you just don’t want what’s in there.”

“You always say that.”

“Because it’s true!”

Down the road the struggling family really didn’t have anything to eat. Those children knew real hunger.
