Weekly Photo Challenge: The golden hour

I am looking east over the high garden wall. The fading light behind has split my view in half, where the sky above is as vivid as the ground below is muted. The sun is a projector and the bricks its screen, casting ever deeper shadows of the sycamore tree.

** I took this photograph quickly, using my phone – it isn’t particularly attractive in terms of its composition, but the weekly photo challenge asked us instead to look at the natural light of the final hour before the sun sets. And because this is a creative writing blog, I had to work my fifty words around the picture too.
