The Sea of Serengacity – verse one

May 5, 2013

In the Sea of Serengacity the mermaids tell their tale

Of the mariners and fisher folk who dare to set their sail

On an ocean quite deceptive, for at first it looks serene,

Though beneath its crystal surface lurks a danger, dark and mean.

(I’ll post the second verse sometime)

  1. I think you excelled yourself on this one Amanda. I can almost smell the sea as I read it, and visualise it. Stunning.

Thanks, I’m really pleased you like it. I hadn’t planned on posting it on Fifty Words but late last night it seemed like the right thing to do.

  2. Yay! you were very apprehensive about posting verse. Needlessly as it happens!

It was one of those moments where I couldn’t go to sleep until I’d emptied it from my head. It practically wrote itself. Nice when that happens.
