Mistaken identity

April 26, 2013

The Goldcrest pecked furiously at its unrelenting challenger, a rival male, uncannily equal in size and plumage. I admired his persistence, though if only he would pause and step back for a moment, his mistake would be plain to see. The small bird’s opponent was merely his own undaunted reflection.
