A real character

February 12, 2013

I admired my mother’s mother. High achieving but profoundly deaf, in those days she couldn’t go to university. While raising children she read newspapers instead and came to know more about the world than most women in her position. Frustrating? Probably. But she never complained. At least, not to me.

** it was hard to write this week’s response to the writing challenge in only fifty words. Perhaps I’ll try again tomorrow with another real character. More details here: http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2013/02/11/weekly-writing-challenge-characters/#more-14256
